On My Way

I am on my way to North Dakota to help flood victims in Linton, ND as a volunteer with www.ob.org , which is the 700 Club Operation Blessing. I called a couple of days ago and talked to director Mary Dean, who was very helpful and promptly called me be 3 or 4 times. All of her calls end with, “blessing to you.”

I am currently in North Platte, Ne having a quick lunch and soon back on the road. I am probably 1/3 of the way. I love the rolling plains of eastern Colorado and W Nebraska. It is no so flat ad boring as Kansas. Life is simpler here as I overheard 2 elderly women talking; one was an employee.

“yep, I have been here 15 years,” said the older looking women to the other lady sitting with her cane and enjoying her lunch.

Being lunch time and the place was busy, the lady with the cane commented, “boy, it is really bad in here.”

The working senior said, ” it’s not really too bad. I have seen it worse!”

I wanted to ask her why she is still working, but I sensed that her reason would be more than the obvious of needing a job.

So I am in the heartland looking for the heart of the matter.

bye for now.
