Tuesday 4/14
Today, I got sick. Monday I was draing from my nose and sniffles. I think it was just a typical head cold that takes my by storm and I don’t get over it but by going to the dr. and getting an antibiotic. So, I went at 3:30 pm to ge patched up. But I am still miserable now. I wonder if if was affected by mold and flood water, even though I tried to wear the mask but it makes my glasses fog up. Pray that I will sleep well tonite and begin healing.

Monday Morning
I slept much better on a single sized air mattress last night. But I am carrying around a sore throat today. I pray that I am not getting a cold. Yuck! It is too miserable to slop around in the mud and getting wet to have a cold.
Saturday Night
I have been wasting a lot of time trying to get a mp3 file upload for you all to listen to. I’ll come back to that later.
As I explained earlier, there are several disaster ministries working here in Linton. But what is more amazing is the hospitallity and the community at large. The local Catholic Church is headquarters. We use their basement hall for a lunchroom and meeting room. The parish priest gave up all of the rooms in the rectory except his own bedroom, plus, they closed the small school on the same grounds to use as “bunk house.” There is a shower trailer for us to use and cots to use. The school house has a game room with a pool table and a foosball table.
Now in Linton!

most homes are demo'd from the basement 24" above first floor
I arrived here about noon and went to the courthouse to find out where I go to work. First of all, I was shown where I could get a sandwhich and I followed Bernadette to the job site. Interestingly, Franklin Grahmn’s Samaritan’s Purse is here on the same lot with the Operation Blessing folks working along side each other! They are sharing resources! Listen church!
In Pierre
I just pulled into the American Inn in Pierre, SD. They wanted $65 per night, so I sat down in their lobby and found a room for $55 across the river! This sounds like a Greg Cunningham trick. Time to ge check in. I still have 150 miles to go and it is getting dark. I hate to spend the money, but I would drather be safe and not so worn out.
More coming once I get settled…
On My Way
I am on my way to North Dakota to help flood victims in Linton, ND as a volunteer with www.ob.org , which is the 700 Club Operation Blessing. I called a couple of days ago and talked to director Mary Dean, who was very helpful and promptly called me be 3 or 4 times. All of her calls end with, “blessing to you.”
I am currently in North Platte, Ne having a quick lunch and soon back on the road. I am probably 1/3 of the way. I love the rolling plains of eastern Colorado and W Nebraska. It is no so flat ad boring as Kansas. Life is simpler here as I overheard 2 elderly women talking; one was an employee.
Forgotten
Why do I feel so forgotten ? No one calls, no one answers my FB messages. I have even been becoming bored with the internet in general. I have resigned myself to actually completing those “I’ll do it later” projects around the house. TV bores me except for a few programs. Even then I record most of those ahead of time so I can fast forward through the commercials. Hell, I have been doing the dishes! What is this world coming to?
Homeless Again?
Why is it that when your kids leave home again, I feel homless! My son Nick spent the last 5 months with us as he was struggling to stay employed as an electrician. I loved having him here and I got to be very supportive in helping him along his way. We really bonded, went to movies and I even got to share my first beer with Nick at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Co. It was really fun to see him encouraged and accepted and loved by our faith community! He studied for almost 3 months and finally passed his Journeyman’s exam! I was blessed to see Nick have a grin on his face as he was publically recognized by Kevin Potter and prayed for.
New Theme
I think I like this one better! What do you think? It does need some work though.
