Homeless Again?

Why is it that when your kids leave home again, I feel homless! My son Nick spent the last 5 months with us as he was struggling to stay employed as an electrician. I loved having him here and I got to be very supportive in helping him along his way. We really bonded, went to movies and I even got to share my first beer with Nick at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Co. It was really fun to see him encouraged and accepted and loved by our faith community! He studied for almost 3 months and finally passed his Journeyman’s exam!  I was blessed to see Nick have a grin on his face as he was publically recognized by Kevin Potter and prayed for.

I think I like this one better! What do you think? It does need some work though.

Go see Gran Torino!

This afternoon my son and I went to see Clint Eastwood’s new movie, Gran Torino. It was a great father and son movie as Mr Kowalski’s neighbor teenager was learning how to be a man. It was fabulous as it was about life and death and the bigger ticket items of life. It even had a deeper meaning about God and religion. If you are a little like me and a sceptic of the religious organizations, you will love the underlying moments of this movie. I myself am a retired autorker and appreciated the work ethic and buy American values, even though the racism and rough language my not float your boat. Go see it anyway and stay awake and it will “make your day.”

A Christmas Poem by a Marine

New Christmas Poem

> TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
> HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
> IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
> PLASTER AND STONE.

> I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
> WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
> AND TO SEE JUST WHO
> IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

> I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
> A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
> NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
> NOT EVEN A TREE.

> NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
> JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
> ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
> OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

Keith in tears

K and K,
I love the input both of you have had on my life. I have been enriched and challenged in small ways and have seen little pieces of the puzzle look like they fit somewhere.

I have decided that our house guests have to go for my wife’s well being, as she is much more affected by the dynamics than I am. I asked that they get a car with in the next 30 days even if they have to sell their things. He can’t get to work w/out a car. Secondly, I want to set up an exit strategy soon and that they will not be thrown out on the street but to find more appropriate housing for their family and that it will take time to make the applications. I went for a long walk with the dog and thought mostly about this issue as I “saw” the pain in Kay’s eyes.

Off the Map / Wall event this past week-end

I am trying to put together what transpired this past week-end ( off the map ) in Arvada, Co. It was so different from the “Jesus” conferences I have attended lately. I had a hard time trying to explain this to my sister on Google Talk.

  • At first all I seemed to hear is that is ok to be homosexual and that is is not sin. Actually, there is such an open forumn for discussion on this topic, with this group, that the Biggy sin of being gay can be overlooked or taken down a notch or two in favor of the interest of the heart and soul of that person. God does not hate fags, but rather desires a loving relationship with us all.
